Meet Candace Lance.

After nearly 20 years in corporate marketing, I kept finding myself wanting more and trying to fill gaps with hobbies, side hustles, and volunteering to fill that void. I have always loved connecting with others, hearing their stories, and seeing how they shine even in their darkest moments. So, I went back to school.

I am now a Marriage and Family Therapy intern (MFT-I) completing my master’s at National University with a specialization in couples and sex therapy. And I bring a lot of real life with me into the room, infertility, military life, parenting a neurodiverse kid, and the up’s and down’s of all aspects of life. I have been a frequent visitor of that therapy couch as a client so I have been there.

I hail from Southern California but the mountains were calling and my family relocated to Utah. I’m a self proclaimed “Queen of Hobbies,” a little geeky, and someone who chooses to collect experiences over things. I have a sleeve of tattoos, have rather strong opinions about what classifies as real Mexican food, and has zero interest in being a typical, boring therapist.

I am very human, make mistakes, and have no problem admitting when I am wrong. I have a lot of lived experience and the book smarts to get you through the messy parts of life, and help you thrive again.

Who I work with.

I am a mental health counselor with Aspire Counseling Services in Layton, Utah working with teens approaching adulthood and adults on anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergence, parenting stress, family dyanmics, sex therapy, and women’s issues particularly those related to perinatal mental health.

How I Support Clients.

Here’s what is different about the way I work, I start by asking what is your story and whether it’s construct by you. Most of us are walking around with narrativces we inherited, absorbed, or built during seasons we never stopped to question. Stories shaped by other people’s expectations, by systems, by hard season that have left a mark. My job is to help you look at them clearly, separate what’s yours from what isn’t, and start writing something that actually fits your life.

We build on what you already have. We move toward what you actually want. Honestly, practically, and entirely on your terms.
