Modern Vibes with Traditional Yoga Practice
Hi, I’m Candace. I am a 200RYT yoga teach currently completing my 500RYT, and a marriage and family therapy intern (MFT-I) at Aspire Counseling Services in Layton, Utah.
I bring both of those worlds into everything I teach on the mat. As a therapist, I work with the mind. As a yoga teach, I work with the body and spirit. I have learned that you really cannot separate the two.
My classes are rooted in traditional practices of hatha, yin, and restorative with an emphasis on slowing down, turning inward, and reconnecting with your body. This helps with how you show up in life.
Less performance. Less ego. More presence.
My Yoga Approach
Yoga doesn’t have to be perfect, hard, and it definitely should not hurt.
I teach yoga for people who want to hit the giant pause button and deeply connect with themselves. My classes move slower on purpose. We take time to settle in, to breathe, to notice what is happening in the body before we try to mov either into a shape.
This kind of practice is powerful because it asks you to be present. And presence is where everything changes. It is where anxiety lossens its grip. Where the body starts to feel safe. Where you remember that you’re more than your to-do list.
As a therapist, I see this every day. The mind and body are not separate. when you slow the body down, the mind follows. Adn when the mind finds some quiet, the body finally gets to rest and restore.
What I teach
Outdoor yoga at markets and community events.
I love bring yoga outside and into the community. Farmers markets. Outdoor gatherings. Community events. These sessions are accessible and welcoming fo all levels. No experience needed. Just show up.
Private yoga sessions.
Yoga for you, your group of friends, or a private event that is entirely tailored to you. This is a space for you to help you reduce stress, navigate healing, or merely connect with others. Available in Layton and surrounding areas.
Meditation
Meditation and guided practices are woven into yoga classes. Drawing from mindfulness traditions, these sessions are practical and grounding. Merely giving yourself space to be good enough and in the moment.
Breathwork
Both pranayama and somatic breathwork for nervous system regulation is one of the most underrated tools for anxiety, stress, and emotional reset. It can stand alone or be woven into any session. Your breath is always available to you. Most of us just forget how to use it.
The Practices
-
Traditional, accessible, and grounding. A slower-paced practice focused on alignment, breath, and building a real foundation. Great for anyone who wants to slow down and build a strong foundation in their yoga practice.
-
Long holds, deep release, and connecting with yourself. Yin targets the connective tissues and invites you to stay with discomfort long enough to move through it. Deeply therapeutic for the nervous system.
-
Supported, sill, and profoundly restful. Restorative yoga uses props to hold you so your body can fully let go. It is advanced rest and for a lot of people, resting can be the hardest practice of all.
-
Guided stillness practices drawing from traditional mindfulness. Practical tools you can actual use outside of the session woven into calss or offered as standalone.
-
Pranayama and somatic breathwork for nervous system regulation, stress relief, and emotional reset. One of the most powerful tools available to you and one that we tend to forget.
